First experience with psychology: a non-lasting effect

The year 2005, my first contact with psychology. I was visiting Warsaw/Poland, due to a family issue. While being at the main station, i discovered a book store. The book i somehow felt destined to buy was “Cialdini – Influence“. I have read the book within 1 week and tried persuasion mechanisms within my family. It worked. It felt powerful. I forgot it.

First experience with peoples business: a lasting effect

A few years later, after graduation as a business administration major, i went into digital business. After 2 years I started working as a consultant in the field of digital marketing.

As a consultant in digital marketing i have the privilege of experiencing work for over 100 companies, small & big, national & international throughout different sectors of the economy. As a consultat in digital business you help companies in building data strategies, understanding the data they have and using it.

Flow

For the first time after playing soccer as a child, i was in a state of flow. It was not the topic itself, which pushed me into a state of flow. It was the leadership of small and big teams on any kind of topic.

The feeling of motivating and inspiring people on a more or less boring business topic was inspiring. It was the moment, when recognizing the shift in behaviour or beliefs, which made me “smile”. It was the moment, when people told me, that i changed their approaches. I felt their thankfulness. It was more the peoples business, than the business itself, that motivated me.

I started cultivating the gift, that i apperently had. Still, over the course of time something seemed to be missing.

Something is missing

From a business perspective I was in good shape. It should have something to do with other aspects of life.
Out of accident and led by a recomenndation of a friend, i was virtually introduced to Tony Robbins and a polish guy called Mateusz Grzesiak. Both Coaches. Maybe the go-to-guys within the coaching world in their respective markets. They were the first reason for coaching for me.

First i took a crash course on Youtube and watched their most inspiring talks. I ended up in reading all books Grzesiak & Robbins have brought to market at that time. I ended up creating a plan on how to improve other aspects in my life. I created my own life-circle.

Life Circle (Bartosz Przytulas reason for coaching)

I feel the truth – my experience with coaching

My life circle, helped me develop a big inner strengh, helped me feel inner motivation, to go the extra mile in all important aspects. I started a postgraduate study in coaching.

When learning how to become a coach, you have to let yourself be coached, too. It was the first moment in my life,  it felt like more then “flow”. It was the moment i felt my own truth. It was my own reason for coaching.

I knew, that coaching is the way i will spend my life with. I knew, that coaching is my purpose. Meanwhile coaching tought me, that dealing with human beings, their behavior, their thoughts, their emotions is a big deal. One should know where he or she is putting his/her hands on.

I want the real deal

As i am always thinking big, i wanted the real deal. The real deal was to learn how to deal with human beings, their behaviors, their thoughs, their emotions from a professional perspective.

I wanted to learn all the basics. So i started studying psychology….for 5 years. I had a plan, which was 5 and 10 years from that moment. I had even a plan for my whole life.

After learning all the basics with the classic psychologists, like Freud, Jung, Piaget & Eriksson, i started to concentrate on behavioral, cognitive psychology and especially on positive psychology.

Finally I understand it and its lasting

Positive psychology was the kind of step-back to the coaching approach. Coaching was my “step into the room” a few years before. Positive psychology concentrates on human flourishing in all aspects of life.

It is an eudamonic approach to life (compared to the hedonistic approach). It concentrates o long term lasting effects. I learned about a process, i was in the middle of myself. If it worked for me, i might also work for others.

Its time to put myself behind

So what are coaching & psychology for me today? They are my own story, my own path, my process of discovering my purpose in life. Today, for me it is helping to create this opportunity for others.

Helping others discover their truth, their own purpose in life. Coaching helped me believe in the power of my life. Psychology has shown me why it works. Coaching and psychology is now the way i want to help others.
